![]() The blue paintwork is remarkably good and displays a slight careworn patina that contributes to its honest and appealing character. Presented in its original shade of Glacier Blue, it is a lovely and delightful car that encourages regular use on the road. This charming Buick was restored to a very high standard in the 1980s and has been exceptionally well-maintained and freshened as needed since then. Buick continued to offer a wide variety of body style options across the range, and sales were quite strong – topping 200, 000 units for the model year, putting Buick on solid footing for the future.įeaturing the stylish and sporty Convertible Coupe body by Fisher, this Series 40, Model 46C is a lovely example of a late-30s Buick. A handsome “waterfall” style grille highlighted the revised styling, which was all around more elegant than the previous year. The ’39 Buicks also featured independent front suspension, coil springs all around, and hydraulic brakes for safe, stable handling. Since the early days of the marque, Buick relied on its refined and robust overhead-valve engines, which remained true for the 1939 model year. While Cadillac led the way as the flagship, LaSalle was not long for this world, and Buick was poised to take up the supporting role as the leader in value, luxury, and quality. Well maintained, obviously well cared for, and a superb addition to any great car collection.In the late 1930s and into the early 1940s, Buick enjoyed a renaissance of sorts as it solidified its position in GM’s hierarchy above Chevrolet, Pontiac, and Oldsmobile. This is an Honest old Buick that was restored to a high standard years ago and will make a great touring car today. All of the brightwork has patina consistent with the rest of the car. Very cool accessory Neville slide up steering wheel for ease getting in and out of the car. All of the lights and horns(awooga and beep) work with original switches. The brakes work great and the parking brake will hold the vehicle. The radiator looks great inside and the car does not get hot touring around, the Boyce Motometer works perfectly. It does not smoke or have any excessive oil leaks. This car fires right up with its electric start and drives very well. Carburetor was just serviced and the fuel tank is like new inside, no rust or debris. Top is nice with the exception of a 6" tear below rear window. We do have the buckles for the and the broken leather straps. The leather straps will need to be replaced for the top to stay secured in the up position. Interior is in good shape with nice patina and a few of the seat buttons missing. Some of the pinstripes have been buffed off a bit from waxing over the years. Finished in correct Blue Body with black fenders and beautiful pinstriping throughout. There is no evidence of bodywork or rust repairs under the fenders or inside the doors, they are as straight as the top side. The lacquer paint shines nicely and the car has very straight panels and good panel fitment. This particular car was professionally restored to AACA standards with a high quality finish and attention to detail approximately 40 years ago and carefully maintained since. Well regarded due to their advanced design and user friendly 3 speed manual transmission with cone clutch. Last of the Brass ERA Buicks and one of the finest touring vehicles of the era.
